The Enugu State Scholarship Board is the State Government’s organ established to be in charge of Bursary, Scholarship and other educational related matters.


Enugu State Scholarship board was established in 2009 under the Sullivan administration with the objective, inter alia, of ensuring that many indigent but exceptionally brilliant students are given the opportunity to go to school.

Since the establishment of the board, not so many people knew about its existence until the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi wherein the board became a household name through the award of various degrees of scholarships to Enugu indigenes to study both within and outside the country.

Local and Foreign Scholarships

Recognizing the importance of education as personal development for social advancement and sustainable development, the Enugu State Government  has been addressing human resources development through scholarship services.

The Local and Foreign Scholarships give Enugu State indigenes the opportunity to qualify for educational and financial aids to study in Nigeria and oversea. 

Empowering People For Sustainable Future

Student's Bursary Allowance  

This qualifies you to receive allowance for the session from the Enugu state Government

Undergraduate Scholarship

This gives you the opportunity to receive financial aid to obtain a first degree  in the university 

Post Graduate Scholarship

This gives you the opportunity to receive financial aid to obtain a second degree in the university

FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as advisory body and policy formulation organ on all scholarship matters (both local and foreign) of the State Government.
  • In charge of administration and award of scholarships.
  • In charge of administration of Bursary Award to all deserving indigenes of the State, running full time courses in Tertiary Institutions within the country
  • Liaises between the Federal and Enugu State Government on Scholarship related matters.
  • Assists in coordinating different Scholarship Awards of the Federal Government to the citizens of the state e.g. Commonwealth and Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA).
